Despite limitations resulting from COVID 19, the 15th International Conference on Local Mechanical Properties LMP2021 is planned to be held at the Institute of Materials Research of SAS in Košice, Slovakia, from Monday, November 8 to Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

Based on a long tradition of the previous LMP workshops and conferences originating from 2004, LMP become a well-established forum in the field of local mechanical testing, micromechanics and related micro-structural studies in various areas of the materials science in Central Europe. The forum has always been organized in a warm atmosphere promoting further collaboration and contacts of the participants.

The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity not only to re-establish personal scientific contacts severely limited by the COVID 19 pandemic but also to highlight recent results of research and development in the field of materials engineering, experimental methods, modeling, important industrial applications, with the aim to characterize mechanical properties of materials from nano- to micro/meso-scale.

Contributions on indentation and methods for hardness and other mechanical properties assessment, measurement of deformations and stresses, time-dependent properties with related microstructure analyses (TEM/SEM, AFM,TERS, etc.) regardless of material type (metals, ceramics, plastics, biomaterials, concrete, etc.) are welcome. Contributions containing combination of the techniques and micro-structurally motivated material models are highly appreciated. At the same time, the contributions related to large scale mechanical properties are out of the scope of the conference.
