LMP 2017

13^th International Conference

After the LMP2017 conference…

After a break in 2016, the 13^th International Conference on Local Mechanical Properties LMP2017 was held at the Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Košice on November 4 - 6, 2017. It involved 55 participants from 8 countries: the majority was from Czech Republic and Slovakia but the researchers from Japan, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and Poland were also present. The scientific program included 4 invited lectures (prof. J. Dusza, prof. J. Keckes, Dr. M. Griepentrog, Dr. G. Mohanty), 17 regular presentations, five company presentations and the Best poster competition for the 20 posters at the conference. The presented works were focused on the latest results of research activities in the micro-scale characterization of mechanical properties of the materials ranging from ultrahigh temperature ceramics up to polymers and biomaterials. Congratulations once more!

Besides welcome meeting, the social program involved an excursion at USS company, excursion around the Kosice city center and a social evening with the bowling tournament. Such program would not be possible without the support from our sponsor companies including general sponsor mt-m, and other sponsors: Alemnis, Anton Paar, Embraco, Sobriety, Specion and Zeiss which is highly appreciated.

Despite the official conference is over, the work on the LMP2018 proceeding is still going on. All the participants will receive an invitation from TTP Publisher with the access information and instruction how to download their contributions. It should be done by the end of this year. The publication of a special issue of Key Engineering Materials with the proceedings is expected in May 2018.

The organizers of the conference hope that the participants benefited not only from the overview of the state-of-the-art in the field of local mechanical properties in the countries of Central Europe but also strengthened old and established new contacts as well as enjoyed Kosice. We are looking to meeting all together at the new LMP meeting. The exact location and date of the next LMP conference will be announced later.
